3rd Esher would like to invite you to join us for our first AGM.
It will be held by Zoom on Thursday 8 October at 7pm for about 20 minutes. We will be reviewing the slideshow of the first year, presenting our first annual report and accounts, awarding our first two Chief Scout's Awards and completing the usual formalities.
It would be good to see all the parents, carers and supporters of this new Group to thank all the people that have helped start the Group and keep it going in tough times.
See OSM or the WhatsApp for the usual Zoom link.
A copy of the Annual Report and Accounts 2019-2020 can be downloaded from the https://www.3rdesherscouts.org.uk/information" target="_blank">Information page.

3rd Esher Scout Group Anniversary Camp
As our Group Camp at Polyapes has been postponed, we marked our First Anniversary as a Scout Group with a remote camp. In an ideal world, we would replicate the activities as much as possible as they would happen at camp. As not everyone had the kit required or the garden space needed to camp out and cook on an open fire, so there were indoor options available.
Saturday 20th June. 3pm Zoom meeting:
• Flag Break and welcome to the Group Camp (Cubs and Beavers to be in uniform)
• Game • pitch tent/build camp,
• prepare campfire/firepit/chimenea/pre-heat oven. To include safety briefing (see link to Risk assessment)
• Prepare dinner (see menu).
6:30pm Zoom meeting: • A catch-up and share some of the photos of setting up camp/dens and cooking dinner
• Campfire songs, • Night wildlife in the garden. Types of birds, bugs and animals to listen/watch out for.
• Wish everyone a good night!
Sunday 21st June: Cook breakfast (see menu) 10am Zoom meeting: Good morning and welcome! Happy Father’s Day!
• Towel challenge game. Please record video clip for WhatsApp group
• Moment of reflection/prayer • Flag Down

Given new guidance from the Prime Minister, we have suspended all face-to-face Scout meetings, activities and events for the time being.
You will no doubt be aware that the Coronavirus situation continues to develop around the world.
The Prime Minister has announced that everyone in the UK should now avoid non-essential travel and contact with others. The safety of everyone involved in Scouts, both young people and adults, is our number one priority. That is always at the heart of our decision making. Given this new guidance, we have suspended all face-to-face Scout meetings, activities and events for the time being.
We have set up a dedicated web page at www.scouts.org.uk/coronavirus to keep you up to date on the latest developments.
It's in challenging times like these that our Scout values matter most. We are talking to the Government and other community organisations to see how Scouts can support our country during this crisis.
We are also developing some fun activities for young people to do at home with their parents if families are faced with self-isolation. We will be communicating more about this soon.
We want to say thank you to all our amazing Scout volunteers. They have taken a calm and measured approach to this situation. They are continuing to ensure that young people and adults stay safe.

Our Cubs and Beavers did a brilliant job of representing us at the Remembrance Sunday parade and service today. Well done to everyone who attended, paraded and observed the two minutes silence at the war memorial at Esher Green.
We also invested Harry into our pack and Ben into the Colony, who took their promises just before the parade.

End of Term Presentations
What a lovely end to the summer term - some fantastic knot-tying skills were shown by our parents, with four catapults made and tested with their help!
The evening was rounded off with a badge ceremony and the investiture of our four newest Cubs around the campfire.
Have an amazing holiday - we look forward to seeing you back on Thursday 12th September.
Don’t forget race night - Saturday 14th September - raising vital funds for our group xx
The perfect summer’s evening for a game of crazy golf! Next week, all parents are welcome to stay and celebrate the end of term, which will include the investiture of new cubs, badges being awarded and another fun-filled activities!

The Cubs were taught how to light a fire safely - using different sized pieces of wood, and each six successfully managed a fabulous fire! We roasted chocolate bananas in the embers and went tracking using the symbols we learned about a few weeks ago.
The evening was finished off with a rendition of the penguin song.
Tonight we learnt about tracking and the symbols scouts use to communicate information - we put this into action outside and all our sixes found their way to the end point! You could see if your children remember what the symbols in the photo mean!
A fabulous evening was had by everyone at Go Ape tonight - it was a beautiful evening and the Cubs had a great time - the zip wire being an especially bit hit! Hopefully they will all sleep well this evening
The children spent the evening working on their science badge - writing code names in ‘invisible ink’ and making 5-minute ice cream. See if they can remember why they added salt to the ice (and if they can’t, you could challenge them to research it for next week!)
We also invested Emily and Riley to the group this week
